It was the first victory of the year for the Spanish club, which played at Centro de Tecnificacion de Alicante.

Meridiano Alicante (5-10) with Mindaugas Katelynas played a strong game away and lost only in the final minute to Sevilla Cajasol (9-6) with a final score 67-68.

Mindaugas played 23 minutes and scored 6 points (3/5 2 pts, 0/1 3pts), made four rebounds and two steals, one block and two turnovers.

Mindaugas played only 4 minutes in the first quarter and scored 5 points (2/2 2pts, 0/1 3pts, 1/1 1pts) against DKV Joventut, because he had to leave the game after getting hit hard in the nose.

After missing the defensive work and scoring from Katelynas Meridiano (4-9) lost the game to Joventut (7-5) with a final score 97-77.

Hopefully, Mindaugas will recover soon from his nose injury.

Mindaugas Katelynas sat down with the Spanish media to talk about his dream to play for Lithuania's national team against Spain in the World Basketball Championships in Turkey next year.

Power forward hopes to have a strong season in Spain and get selected to play for his national team. Currently, he's standing on the offensive rebounding rankings of ACB league every week. He feels in shape and more connection with the teammates, while doing his best both in practice and games.

He said that after the first round draw for Turkey 2010 where Lithuania and Spain are going to compete in group D. This became possible for Lithuanian team only when it received an individual invitation after a disappointing performance in the European Championships last summer in Poland.

Club Meridiano (4-8) with Mindaugas Katelynas had to accept a tough loss from Lagun Aro (6-6) on its home court last Sunday after an offensive showcase from the both teams.

Mindaugas played 32 minutes and scored 22 points (2/3 2pts, 3/6 3pts, 9/10 1pts), grabbed eight boards, made two assists, and was a leading scorer on his team.

But disqualification of Meridiano head coach Quintana in the third quarter appeared to have cost too dearly for the home team with a final score standing at 100-102.

Spanish club Meridiano Alicante (4-7) with Mindaugas Katelynas played a strong half against Unicaja Malaga (4-7), but fell short to a final score 73:92 (17:19, 19:21, 21:26, 16:26).

Mindaugas played 22 minutes and scored 9 points (3/4 2pts, 1/3 3pts, 0/2 1pts), added seven rebounds, blocked one shot, stole two and lost four balls, while making three fouls.

Meridiano played very focused with a lot of attitude and managed to impose their style of play by strong rebounding, defense and offense, but that was not enough for the first away victory this season.

Mindaugas played a very strong first quarter and was unstoppable for Gran Canaria defense by scoring 7 points (2/3 2pts, 1/3 3pts), grabbing six boards and making one assist.

Meridiano (4-6) played outstanding defense throughout the game allowing Gran Canaria (4-6) to score only five points in the third quarter.

Another sign of a strong game was a comment from the head coach Quintana after the game, who said that if the team were to continue playing this way they would win a lot of games.

Mindaugas played 25 minutes, scored 12 points (5/8 2pts, 0/1 3pts, 2/3 1pts), grabbed two rebounds, made one assist and was second scorer on his team, but Meridiano Alicante (3-6) fell short to Valecia Power Electronics (7-2) by 16 points (14:19, 19:20, 18:20, 18:26).

On top of financial problems the club is facing at the moment, Quintana's players lost the strength and forgot the concept of the team work.

The next game is at home where Meridiano plays well this season, so a "W" should be a positive note and lift the spirits for everybody.

Mindaugas Katelynas and his club Meridiano (3-5) matched up against Bilbao Basket, but could not quite match their scoring and had to give Bilbao the second win of the season.

Just a few days ago Meridiano destroyed C.B. Murcia by scoring 113 points, while during this outing at Bilbao Basket (2-5) only managed to get a half of that with 58 points against Bilbao's 80 (24:12, 23:19, 13:15, 20:12).

Mindaugas played 23 minutes and scored one three-pointer (0/2 2pts), added 5 rebounds, made one assist and two steals.

Currently, Meridiano is at the 13th place of the ACB table, with 8 games under their belt.

Next game: Sunday, Nov 22nd @ Valencia Basket

Club Meridiano (3-4) with Mindaugas Katelynas destroyed ACB table bottom dweller Murcia (1-6) with a 113:69 (29:16, 24:17, 37:18, 23:18) victory on the home court.

During the first minutes of the game neither team managed to get ahead and there was a continuous exchange of baskets. Three consecutive 3-pointers made by Meridiano Alicante coupled with a two-point action allowed to gain the first twelve point lead (27-15) against C.B. Murcia.

Mindaugas added 11 points (4/7 2pts, 1/1 3pts), one rebound, two assists, and two steals in 16 minutes and was a headache to Murcia's defense.

This game went down to the Meridiano record books as a victory with the largest point difference (44 points) against an ACB opponent.
